Enjoy an exceptional experience with our private guided tours of Florence in English!
Florence offers a wide range of guided tours, allowing you to explore its historical, artistic and cultural treasures.
We have designed two romantic guided tours that reveal different sides of Florence: the historic Right Bank and the more bohemian, authentic Left Bank.
A tour of the Duomo complex is, of course, an absolute must.
If you would like to see Florence from a different perspective, an evening tour is an excellent way to experience the city’s magic after dark.
Guided tours of Florence’s museums allow you to admire Renaissance masterpieces in iconic venues such as the Uffizi Gallery and the Accademia Gallery.
Finally, for a more personalised experience, you can choose a specific theme, such as a food tour, a tour of Florence’s palazzi, a wine tasting in the Chianti vineyards or an excursion to the surrounding villages.
Whichever tour you choose, every guided experience in Florence offers a rich and memorable immersion, allowing you to discover this magnificent city from a variety of perspectives.
Romantic guided tour of Florence
Discover both the historical and romantic sides of Florence, starting on the Right Bank at Piazza della Santissima Annunziata, where you will hear the moving story of “The Lover at the Window”. Your guide will lead you through narrow medieval streets to the Dante Alighieri House Museum, where Dante met his beloved Beatrice, before continuing to the Duomo, the city’s most iconic landmark.
Next, head to Piazza della Signoria and immerse yourself in the captivating story of the Medici family, filled with conspiracies and tragic love affairs.
You will then walk through the magnificent courtyard of the Uffizi Gallery before reaching the Ponte Vecchio, now a popular spot for marriage proposals.
The tour ends at Piazza Pitti, once home to major dynasties such as the Pitti, Medici and Habsburg-Lorraine families. Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes.
Guided tour of the Duomo complex
Journey through the centuries as you explore the Duomo complex, comprising the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore and its museum, the Baptistery, Brunelleschi’s Dome, an iconic symbol of Florence, and Giotto’s elegant Bell Tower.
Delve into the architectural innovation behind Brunelleschi’s Dome and admire the Last Judgement frescoes inside.
At the Baptistery of San Giovanni, you will discover Ghiberti’s famous “Gates of Paradise”. Finally, the Opera del Duomo Museum houses sculptures and historical works illustrating the development of the complex, including masterpieces such as Michelangelo’s Pietà.
This guided tour will help you understand the history, art and architecture of this iconic complex, enriched by anecdotes and explanations tailored to your preferred level of detail. Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes.
Guided tour of Florence’s museums
Florence is home to magnificent museums renowned throughout the world. These tours offer privileged access to iconic masterpieces such as Michelangelo’s David at the Accademia Gallery and Botticelli’s The Birth of Venus at the Uffizi Gallery.
This is an opportunity to deepen your understanding of Renaissance art and notice details you might otherwise miss when visiting alone. In addition to the artworks themselves, these guided tours offer fascinating anecdotes about the artists, their patrons and the evolution of Florence over the centuries.
It is an enriching experience that adds a new dimension to your exploration of Florence and leaves you with a deeper appreciation of its artistic heritage. Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes.
Romantic guided tour of the Oltrarno district
This off-the-beaten-track tour takes you through the city’s more authentic side, with superb views from the Left Bank. Your guide will confirm the direction of the itinerary according to the season, as the narrow streets are not illuminated at night—and we speak from experience! 🙂
During the day, the tour starts at Piazzale Michelangelo, on top of the hill, and ends at the Ponte Vecchio. For an even more romantic experience, you can start at the Ponte Vecchio and reach Piazzale Michelangelo in time to admire the sunset before returning to the historic centre by bus.
As the chapter house of Santa Felicita has specific opening hours and must be booked in advance, please let us know if you would like to visit it. Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes. Admission to Santa Felicita is not included (€16 per person).
Bespoke guided tour of Florence
Florence reveals its many different sides through bespoke guided tours tailored to your interests and preferences. For history and architecture enthusiasts, tours of the city’s palazzi provide a fascinating insight into magnificent Renaissance residences such as Palazzo Vecchio, Palazzo Pitti and Palazzo Medici Riccardi, with their frescoes, sculptures and stories of Florence’s most influential families.
If you are interested in Renaissance history, a tour of Medici Florence retraces the family’s influence on the city, revealing the places and stories that shaped their legacy.
Excursions to the Chianti vineyards with wine tastings can also be arranged, as can food tours where you can sample Florentine specialities, explore local markets and taste traditional dishes such as bistecca alla fiorentina.
Florence by night
A guided evening tour of Florence offers a unique way to discover the city, with its monuments and streets beautifully illuminated.
The tour begins at dusk, allowing you to admire iconic sights such as the Ponte Vecchio, Piazza della Signoria and the Duomo in a peaceful and intimate atmosphere.
Your guide will share fascinating stories about Florence’s history, legends and secrets while pointing out architectural and artistic details that take on a special quality under the glow of the streetlights.
It is also an opportunity to explore quieter, less-visited places and gain a different perspective on the city. Some itineraries include stops at cafés or gelaterias where you can sample local specialities. Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes.
What do travellers think of their private guided tour of Florence?
“We travelled to Florence to celebrate the anniversary of the day we met and wanted to enjoy a special experience discovering this wonderfully romantic city with a private guided tour just for the two of us. We had a fantastic time with Stefania, whose explanations were detailed and informative, interspersed with delightful little anecdotes. She was very friendly and warm, and immediately made us feel at ease.”
Nicolas D.“Exploring a city on your own is not always easy, especially when you only have two short days there. Taking this private guided tour, with its incredibly interesting explanations, really allowed me to immerse myself in Florence’s history.
