Historic Centre Tour of Helsinki
Helsinki is a surprisingly spacious city, making it impossible to see everything in just two hours.
However, this tour offers the perfect introduction to the city’s historic heart, taking you through Market Square, charming streets, the magnificent Helsinki Cathedral and the elegant Esplanadi.
An alternative two-hour itinerary begins at the spectacular Oodi Central Library, continues to the famous Temppeliaukio Rock Church, and follows part of the Baltic coastline to the Sibelius Monument (currently under restoration until autumn 2024), including a romantic coffee break at a beautiful waterfront café.
Both itineraries can also be combined into a comprehensive 4-hour private tour for a more complete introduction to Finland’s capital.
Duration: 2 hours
Art Nouveau Tour
The Katajanokka Peninsula, just east of Helsinki’s city centre, is renowned for its remarkable Art Nouveau architecture.
Built mainly between the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the district is home to beautifully preserved buildings decorated with floral motifs, elegant curves and intricate architectural details.
Highlights include the unique Hotel Katajanokka, a former prison transformed into a luxury hotel, alongside numerous private residences that perfectly illustrate the beauty of Finnish Art Nouveau.
This fascinating walk offers a wonderful introduction to one of Helsinki’s most distinctive architectural treasures and can easily be combined with a visit to nearby Suomenlinna, thanks to the ferry terminal just a short walk away.
Duration: 1½ hours
Suomenlinna Fortress Tour
Suomenlinna is one of the world’s most remarkable island fortresses and a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site.
A private guided tour is the best way to discover its fascinating history.
Your guide will explain how Suomenlinna was founded by Sweden during the 18th century to defend its empire, later came under Russian control, and eventually became part of independent Finland.
Explore impressive bastions, defensive walls and iconic landmarks such as the King’s Gate, while visiting museums that reveal the daily lives of the soldiers who once lived here.
Throughout the tour, your guide will share fascinating stories and answer all your questions, creating an engaging and interactive experience.
Beyond its history, Suomenlinna also offers spectacular views across the Baltic Sea, peaceful gardens and beautiful places to relax.
Duration: 2½ hours
The tour can begin either from Market Square or directly from Suomenlinna.
Visite combo Art Nouveau + Suomenlinna
This combined private tour is available in two different versions.
The first focuses on Helsinki’s extraordinary Art Nouveau heritage, showcasing part of the city’s remarkable collection of around 600 Art Nouveau buildings, many of which are concentrated on the Katajanokka Peninsula during a relaxing 90-minute walk.
From there, it’s only a short stroll to the nearby ferry terminal before boarding the 15-minute boat crossing to Suomenlinna, one of Finland’s greatest cultural treasures and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Combining architecture, history, breathtaking scenery and Finnish culture, this tour offers one of the most complete experiences available in Helsinki.
From autumn 2024 onwards, an alternative itinerary may also be offered once restoration work at the Sibelius Monument has been completed.
Duration: 4½ hours
Please note: drinks ordered during the café stop are not included.
Helsinki Highlights Tour
This tour offers an excellent overview of Helsinki while requiring considerably less walking than our other itineraries—approximately 1.5 km in total.
Beginning at Market Square (Kauppatori), you’ll explore the surrounding streets, Senate Square, the magnificent white Helsinki Cathedral, and several of the city’s most important landmarks before finishing at the extraordinary Oodi Central Library, whose innovative architecture and unique concept continue to impress visitors from around the world.
Along the way, your guide will also introduce you to Finnish culture and explain what makes everyday life in Finland so unique.
To make the experience even more enjoyable, you’ll stop at a beautiful 200-year-old historic café, famous for its stunning Art Nouveau interior and elegant Belle Époque atmosphere.
Duration: 3½ hours
Please note: The café stop is optional. Food and drinks are not included and must be paid for directly at the café.
Full-Day Immersive Helsinki Experience
This full-day experience is designed to help you discover as many different sides of Helsinki as possible.
Although the itinerary can be fully customised to suit your interests, here’s one of our favourite suggestions.
Begin by exploring Helsinki’s historic centre, lively squares, traditional market and the spectacular Oodi Central Library before enjoying a leisurely lunch break.
You’ll have plenty of free time to choose your own restaurant, and your guide will be happy to recommend their favourite local addresses.
During the afternoon, discover the beautiful Art Nouveau architecture of the Katajanokka Peninsula before taking the ferry to Suomenlinna, Finland’s magnificent UNESCO-listed island fortress.
Duration: 7–8 hours
Please note: the lunch break usually lasts between 1½ and 2 hours depending on the season.
