Café Shakespeare
Situated in the Kesklinn district, just a 6-minute walk from Tartu Town Hall, Café Shakespeare offers a welcoming atmosphere both indoors and on its sunny terrace.

Werner Cafe-Lounge
Situated in the heart of Tartu, Werner is one of Estonia’s oldest cafés—the country’s second oldest, to be precise.
Its vaulted ceilings and historic atmosphere give the place undeniable charm. Since 1895, when pastry chef Johann Werner opened the café, it has been renowned for its outstanding pastries. Today it also serves breakfast and lunch, with starter and main course menus available from around €10.
Over the years, Werner became the favourite meeting place of Estonia’s cultural elite. Writers, poets, musicians, artists, actors and even famous chess players gathered here to exchange ideas over coffee.

Housed inside a spectacular 300-year-old vaulted gunpowder cellar, this unique venue delivers an unforgettable dining experience, especially for beer lovers.
Built between 1768 and 1778 on the orders of Catherine II of Russia, it later became a beer warehouse before serving as a lecture hall for the University of Tartu during the late 19th century.
Today, the impressive 11-metre-high interior—listed in the Guinness World Records—offers exclusive house beers, unusual soups and an excellent international wine selection.
