About Go-Citybreak

When was your last romantic getaway? Or, more simply… have you ever actually planned one?

Work, children, the house, everyday responsibilities… We all have a thousand good reasons to put off spending a few days together. We promise ourselves we will go “next month,” “this summer,” or “when we have more time.” Then the months go by, and sometimes even the years.

Yet these breaks away from everyday life are often the moments that create our most beautiful memories. This idea is what gave rise to Go-Citybreak.

An idea that took several years to develop

Destinations européennes

My name is Karine. Travel has always played an important role in my life. I have lived in three countries, spent nearly ten years in the United Kingdom and travelled to more than thirty countries.

The defining moment came during a round-the-world trip with my daughter, who was nine years old at the time.

For several months, we discovered cities, cultures and landscapes together that profoundly shaped the way we travel. That journey, which took place shortly before the Covid-19 pandemic, planted the first seed of what would become Go-Citybreak several years later.

I loved planning our trips, researching the most beautiful neighbourhoods, seeking out charming places to stay, creating itineraries, discovering authentic restaurants and putting together well-balanced days.

However, I did not want to create just another travel blog. There are already thousands of them online. I wanted to develop a genuinely useful website that could help other couples organise a romantic getaway with ease.

A hybrid concept designed to turn inspiration into action

Throughout my travels, I realised that something was missing. Blogs inspire. Travel guides inform. Travel agencies make bookings. I dreamed of a website that would bring together the best of all three worlds.

That is how Go-Citybreak became a hybrid concept. A website based on first-hand experiences that goes one step further by helping couples create their own romantic getaways.

You can plan your entire weekend yourself using our guides, recommended addresses, love rooms, romantic restaurants and private tours…

…or choose to receive personal assistance from our Travel Planner service and benefit from a tailor-made travel itinerary.

Our goal is not to tell you about our getaways. Our goal is to help you experience your own.

More than just a travel guide

Each destination is built around four pillars that we believe contribute to a successful romantic getaway:

❤️ Activities and experiences to enjoy together

Discovering a city, wandering through its neighbourhoods, admiring a panoramic view, visiting a landmark or simply getting lost in its narrow streets.

🛏️ Accommodation that creates lasting memories

Love rooms, boutique hotels, rooms with a private hot tub, sauna or exceptional view… Because where you stay is an integral part of the journey.

🍷 Romantic restaurants

From an intimate little bistro to a fine-dining restaurant with a view, we select places where a meal becomes a truly special moment to share.

🎟️ Exclusive experiences

Private guided tours, original activities, tastings and unusual experiences… all wonderful opportunities to make every getaway unique.

Why this project means so much to us

Couple visite main dans la main

While creating Go-Citybreak, one thing became clear. I have travelled extensively. Yet the number of genuine romantic getaways I have taken is far smaller than it should have been.

I would have loved someone to say to me one day: “Pack your bags. I’ll take care of everything.” A carefully planned weekend. A thoughtfully chosen hotel. A table booked at a lovely restaurant. An unexpected tour. Simply a few days to reconnect.

Because ultimately, the most beautiful gift is not necessarily an object. It is often time spent together.

So, if Go-Citybreak can inspire some couples to finally book the getaway they have been putting off for months—or even years—then our mission will have been accomplished.

An adventure that continues…

Go-Citybreak does not simply tell travel stories. The website continues to grow through our own getaways and the cities we have already explored. Several iconic destinations are already online, with many more gradually joining them: Lisbon, Porto, Bergen, Valencia, several cities in Sicily, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Kraków, Gdańsk… and many others.

Our ambition is not to become the largest website devoted to city breaks. Our ambition is to build, over time, a collection of authentic destinations organised around a shared philosophy: helping couples move from dreaming about a getaway… to actually setting off.

Although Go-Citybreak continues to grow, it remains deeply connected to these memories of travelling together. Behind every destination featured on the website, there is often a story, a memory, an emotion or an encounter that inspired us to share it with others.

A journey may come to an end, but the memories we create together often last a lifetime.
