Spring (March to May): spring is a pleasant time to visit Granada, as the weather is generally mild and sunny, with average temperatures of around 15 to 20°C. The gardens are in bloom, adding to the city’s beauty, and tourist attractions are less crowded than in summer.
Autumn (September to November): autumn is also a recommended season for visiting Granada, as temperatures remain mild and the autumn colours add a touch of magic to the city. It is also a quieter period for tourism, allowing you to enjoy the sights and activities more fully.
Summer (June to August): if you enjoy hot weather and a lively summer atmosphere, summer can be a good time to visit Granada. However, bear in mind that temperatures can be high, often exceeding 30 to 35°C, which can make sightseeing more tiring and even very uncomfortable. Tourist attractions can also be extremely busy during this period.
Winter (December to February): winters in Granada are generally mild, with daytime temperatures of around 10 to 15°C. It is a quiet period in terms of tourist numbers, which can be ideal if you are looking for a peaceful romantic getaway. However, bear in mind that there may be some rainfall, particularly in January and February.
In summary, spring and autumn are generally considered the best seasons to visit Granada, thanks to the pleasant weather, mild temperatures and moderate tourist numbers. Whatever time of year you decide to visit, Granada always provides an enchanting setting for a memorable romantic getaway.
How can you travel to Granada from France?
Although Granada has its own airport, Federico García Lorca Granada Airport, it is important to note that direct flights from France to Granada are relatively rare and often expensive. We therefore recommend two more practical options.
Option 1:
The first alternative is to take a flight to Málaga-Costa del Sol International Airport (AGP), located around 130 kilometres from Granada. Málaga is well served by flights from various French cities and generally offers a wider choice of airlines and more competitive fares.
Once you arrive at Málaga Airport, you can easily reach Granada by bus or train. Several bus companies operate regular services between Málaga and Granada, with journeys taking around two hours, including Alsa. There are also regular rail connections between Málaga and Granada, with high-speed AVE trains linking the two cities in around 1 hour and 30 minutes. Please note that trains do not run after midnight.
If you take an early morning flight to Málaga, drop off your luggage and spend the day exploring the city before taking a bus or train to Granada in the late afternoon.
Option 2:
The other option is to enjoy a one-week multi-city break in Andalusia, discovering destinations such as Seville, Córdoba and Granada. Although very different from one another, these cities are all extremely romantic, and it is easy to travel between them by bus or train.
