Nase Case Bistro
It is quite rare for a restaurant to receive unanimous praise… yet this one certainly does.
French visitors regularly describe it as “Brno’s hidden gem”, serving food worthy of a Michelin-starred restaurant at unbelievably affordable prices.
Every weekday, a fresh menu featuring a soup and three main courses is available for around €7, with nothing exceeding €10. Although it isn’t located right in the city centre, it’s easily accessible by tram (lines 3, 4, 5, 6, 11 and 12), or you can stop by after visiting Špilberk Castle, as it’s just north of the fortress.
The restaurant is only open Monday to Friday from 11 am to 2 pm (or until sold out) and is closed on weekends. It’s very popular, and the atmosphere is perhaps a little less romantic than some others on this list, but it’s still cosy, charming, and you’ll enjoy outstanding food at incredible prices.
Babinsky Bistrot
This lovely bistro is the perfect stop after your private walking tour of Brno’s historic centre before continuing to Špilberk Castle in the afternoon.
Picturesque and offering a beautiful romantic view of the castle just opposite, it serves delicious homemade snacks. Enjoy the terrace during the warmer months or relax inside by the fireplace in a wonderfully cosy atmosphere.
The menu includes draft beer, coffee, wine, mulled wine in winter, homemade soup, sandwiches, cheeses, homemade pâté served with fresh bread, and ice cream. The terrace is beautifully decorated throughout the year for occasions such as Christmas and Halloween, making the setting even more charming.
Café Podnebi
This delightful café is tucked away in a wonderfully romantic woodland setting. Its beautiful terrace is peaceful, green and wonderfully relaxing.
It’s an excellent place for breakfast or lunch before visiting Špilberk Castle, especially during the summer months. Breakfast is served until 1 pm on weekdays and 2 pm at weekends.
The extensive breakfast menu includes croissants, omelettes, fried or scrambled eggs, pancakes and even a full English breakfast. It’s also an ideal place to enjoy an aperitif after sightseeing.
If you’re looking for a quick lunch, the café serves sandwiches, toasties, nachos, soups, paninis and both sweet and savoury crêpes. The intimate terrace makes it particularly enjoyable.
Vegalite
Romantic… or hardcore? That certainly gets your attention!
Located inside a vaulted cellar, Vegalite is a paradise for vegetarians, with a varied menu and main courses priced between 120 and 180 CZK, making it extremely affordable.
Most of the time, the venue has a lively punk atmosphere, with around five rock and punk concerts every month. But on Mondays, everything changes: candles are lit on every table, creating a surprisingly romantic setting.
From Monday to Friday, there’s also a changing lunch menu including soup, a main course and fruit-infused water for just 169 CZK.
Restaurace L’eau Vive
A truly unique experience awaits at this restaurant located behind Brno Cathedral.
It serves both French and Czech specialities and is run by multilingual missionary sisters, some of whom speak French.
You can enjoy dishes such as Lyon-style rump steak, Parisian crêpes, or Moravian braised pork.
During summer, tables are set in a spacious, romantic garden filled with blooming roses.
Menus are even displayed in French at the entrance.
You can also stop by for breakfast if you wish.
Kohout Na Vine
We were immediately impressed by the elegant presentation of the dishes served here.
You don’t have to choose the full tasting menu—you can simply order a main course and still enjoy an exceptional meal.
A beautifully prepared wild boar dish for around €13 is remarkable value. Main courses generally range between €20 and €29, while tasting menus start at €49, excluding wine pairing.
During the summer, the intimate terrace provides a lovely romantic setting for dinner.
Grandezza restaurant
Located inside the Grandezza Hotel, this restaurant occupies a magnificent historic building in the heart of Brno.
It is renowned for its elegant Art Deco interior, evoking the glamour of the 1920s and 1930s.

The restaurant occupies a magnificent 19th-century palace designed by architect Franz Fröhlich. Originally built as a private residence, the building underwent an extensive two-and-a-half-year renovation before reopening in 2009.
